Bearst/Barest Friends (2021) | Sculpture
Original fine art
Description:
A faceless bare human character holding hands with a bear
Analysis:
Do you have a [best] friend who bears with your barest side? The title is a wordplay, punning the spelling and pronunciation of 'best', 'bear', and 'bare'. While it may sound confusing, Bearst/Barest Friends (2021) explores how many barriers true friendship can break, while questioning how long genuine relationships can last. In fact, when the 'r' is removed, 'Bearst' turns into 'Beast', symbolising the volatility of the human condition.
